9 months on...

9 months on, and he's still detained and nobody knows why. Not even his lawyer. Not even the Public Prosecutor. Files are not accessible to anyone, so you don't even know what is going on or how to build your case. For the past 6 or so months, they have been saying "This is the final extension"... they said it yet again earlier this month. Dubai's justice system is no different than those in movies you see, such as Hilton Bangkok or Brokedown Palace.

Here's a great story for you: a Spanish guy who is a Banquet manager at some hotel in Dubai, was invited to do a wine tasting (this is part of hotel culture.. all F&B have to do wine tastings at one point or another and because it's part of the job, you do it during 'office hours'). Anyway... after an afernoon of wine tasting it was time to go home. He got in his car, drove a little down the road, and realised that he's not sober enough to drive. Being a responsible resident and respectful of the laws, he decided to fnd a parking spot, park, rest his eyes a bit and 'sober up' a bit more before heading home.

A while later:
P: *knock* *knock*
Spanish guy rolls down the window
SG: Good evening officer
P: Good evening. What are you doing in your car?
SG: I'm just resting officer. I'm tired and didn't think it was a good idea for me to be driving when I'm tired.
P: Have you been drinking?
SG: yes I have officer, but that's why I'm not driving.
P: OK come with me
SG: OK, where are we going?
P: To the police station.

The Spanish guy was arrested and charged with Drunk Driving.....

HELLOOOO?!

Why? Because in Dubai, they take things LITERALLY.... he was sitting "behing the wheel", and you know you should not be behing the wheel of car when you've had something to drink... EVEN if the car was parked and the keys were in your pocket.

Yes, he should've sat in the passenger seat or in the back seat. Stupid Spaniard.

Dubai is by far the most ridiculous place on God's green earth...I don't know why people bother moving there.

They say they will not release anyone until the investigation is over...

But WHAT THE HELL DOES HE HAVE TO DO WITH THE IVNESTIGATION?!! HE’S NOT EVEN AN EMPLOYEE OF THE COMPANY BEING INVESTIGATED!!!!!

WHY IS HE GOING THROUGH THIS?!!!

I WANT TO SEE MY FATHER. I WANT MY SON TO MEET HIS GRANDFATHER.

You’re nothing but thieves. You stole my father from me. You stole the moment I was going to share with him when I put my baby in his arms. You stole the most important moment in my life. I need a place to just rant and vent.. about people you don't know and things that don't mean shit to you. Call it self therapy, I don't care... this is my place, my blog, my space to vent, yell, get pissed off, complain, get happy (does that ever happen?!) and do whatever the hell I damn well please... and all for the price of.... Hey what do you know, it's FREE!! Thank God for freedom of speech!! Something Middle Eastern countries (and other countries) need to re-learn. Hey, it is possible that country has democracy and freedom of speech at one point in its history and then decide "actually guys, we prefer not to have basic human rights"??? Most Middle Eastern countries were democractic countries, and then somehow, all of a sudden, one dickhead who overthrows the government takes over and turns everything to shit... yeah you know who you are.... how the f*ck does someone go from being ahead to being so far behind???!!
